My life's not an adventure, but it keeps me awake. Sometimes.

I returned to the states in June 2004, and began what I expected to be a boring life. My expectations were not met. Sure some of it is mind-numbing, but I've been having mini-adventures that keep me pseudo-sane.

8/15 I'm just thinkin...

A few months ago I was screaming at the top of my lungs, "I LOVE MY JOB!" Why this vague dissatisfaction now? I do feel overworked, but have never complained about that in the past. Much of the time I think one person can't do this job, yet I keep doing it. Sometimes not well, but I do it. I love the company, admire our mission, care about my coworkers, enjoy writing and editing, what's the matter with me?

Here I am, just turned 59, and wondering what I want to be when I grow up.

I suck.

Okay, I take that back. Perhaps this is just me having the post-birthday blues. Don't know. Except it's been this way for a few months.

Tonight will be enjoyable I think. I'll be writing at Alterra Coffee from 6-8 and have Open Improv from 8-10. My allergies are acting up, but other than that I feel good, and look forward to laughing until milk squirts out my nose.

Okay, I hate milk, but it's a metaphor.

It sure does. We had so much fun Saturday. Performing sketch was a riot, but I couldn't believe how much fun I had performing improv with people I'd never met before. (Miss you tons, Bron. Come back to the states if the UK doesn't appreciate you enough.)

This makes me think that what you are feeling has a lot to do with being tired. You do love your job and the people you work with, I can tell that by the way you talk about them. Maybe you need a short vacation to recharge your batteries. :)

Thanks, Jeff, you're a sweetie. September is full of vacation! I'll be in LA for a week--visiting my daughter, s-i-l, and grandkids, working at the LA Breast Cancer Walk, AND performing stand-up in Hollywood. Come to think of it, there's a lot of work involved in that vacation. :) The following weekend I'll be out of town for a family wedding. That will require some recuperation time too.

I do make sure I get enough sleep. I'm an 8-hour a night person, and never get less than 6 on a school night. :)

But the Today Show said it's my allergies to ragweed making me so fuzzy-headed, so I'm going to go with that.
