I'm a writer and editor, and sometime improv comedian. In 2004 I lived in the UK for
five months, and needed a place for what I used to call a travelog, but now is called a
blog. Such a simple way to describe nailing yourself to the keyboard every day to force yourself to write. (Yes, I know that wasn't a full sentence, but that's how I write.)
I found that journaling online was fun, so I started
another blog when I returned to the US. I
also found that it's not nearly as interesting as the
UK Adventure blog. Toward the end of 2003, I was involved in NANOWRIMO (National Novel Writing Month). During the month of November, participants are challenged to write a novel in a month, or at least 50,000 words of a novel. Writing without editing is indeed a challenge. Since I edit and write for a living (in a non-fiction field), it's difficult to keep typing rather than correct syntax, spelling, and grammar errors. But that's the only way I was able to finish the 50,000 words. The manuscript, Reality Is Murder, is messy and unfinished, but it was fun to write, and I definitely have plans to make it more marketable in the near future. I joined NANOWRIMO again for 2004 along with some other writer friends. I didn't finish the task in 2004, because the rest of my life became a lot busier than 2003. But I'll try again in November, 2005. What can I say, I'm a masochist. I've been published in many magazines and journals in the course of my job, write a regular column for an online newsletter, and edit two journals and three online newsletters, but my real love is fiction. I'm a proud member of Sisters in Crime, Internet Chapter. For more information on editing or writing services, send me an email.
